Shannon L. Spyker
ARTIST / Designer / Writer

Meet Tulip Tree Creative Studios owner, Shannon Spyker

With a background of over 18 years working for and within non-profits and small businesses in various positions including Graphic Designer, Publication Designer, Interior Book Designer, Editor, Annual Fund Coordinator, and Membership Associate, I am able to apply my knowledge and experience and translate your ideas into online web spaces and print materials to fulfill your organization’s design needs.

I grew up along the shores of the mighty Lake Erie in Ashtabula, Ohio, the word Ashtabula believed to be Iroquois or Algonquin in origin and the word for “river of many fish,” “halfway place,” or “beautiful river,” which exists upon the native territories of the Erie, Haudenosaunee, Kaskaskia, and Mississauga. It was here in my hometown where I worked for a screen printer and learned the process while attending our regional campus in the beginning. Eventually I moved to Kent, Ohio and earned a BA in studio art from Kent State University.

I then moved to Cleveland Heights, Ohio and worked as both publication writer/editor and designer, and author/writer for fundraising campaign literature and Annual Fund campaigns for area non-profit organizations including Geauga Humane Society and The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. I later earned a secondary degree in IT focusing on web design and development.

Today, my graphic design business, Tulip Tree Creative Studios, blends all of my life experiences and is the central hub for all of my creative output. It encompasses my graphic design business, which offers design and writing services to small businesses, academic publishers, and non-profit organizations, in addition to interior book design and web development services for independent authors.

It is also the imprint and design studio for my writing/publishing endeavors including the middle grade fantasy novel, The Way of the River: Kellandale Wood (Book One), a 368-page adventure, written, published, and designed by me. It is available for purchase worldwide.

Finally, Spyked Ink is the offshoot label for my indie screen printed goods and fine art, which are available for purchase via the link above.

For authors, more information can be found on the Services for Indie Authors + Creatives page. Writing services are offered in conjunction with all of the above services.
